Submission criteria
Contributions are accepted as oral or poster presentations and form the scientific core of the symposium programme.
- Abstracts should report original work on homogeneous catalysis and closely related research.
- Each abstract must clearly state the topic, the methods used and the main results obtained.
- Submissions are reviewed by the scientific committee, which selects contributions for oral or poster presentation.
- Selected abstracts are included in the symposium programme and, where permitted, in the conference proceedings.
- Contributors are expected to register as participants; participation was limited to 400 people, admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Oral presentations
Contributions selected as talks are scheduled in the main programme sessions and are accompanied by the presentation guidelines sent to the authors.
Abstract submission is the scientific heart of the symposium programme, since the ISHC series in Trieste has always been built around contributions reported directly by the researchers who carry them out. Contributions are welcome as oral or poster presentations, and the scientific committee reviews each submission to decide the most appropriate format. Preparers are asked to state the topic, the methods applied and the main results obtained, so that readers can grasp the advance at a glance. Work that is original and clearly situated within homogeneous catalysis, or in closely related research areas, forms the core of what the programme is designed to showcase.
The selection process treats the abstract as the primary evidence of merit. Once the committee has read the submissions, contributions are assigned to oral or poster slots in the programme, and selected abstracts are typically reflected in the conference proceedings where permitted. Registration is expected from everyone who submits, whether the contribution ends up as a talk in the parallel sessions or as a poster, since the meeting depends on the presence of the people behind the science. Reviewing is carried out with attention to the standards the field has upheld across more than twenty editions of this series.
The scientific programme itself is organised to favour exchange rather than mere presentation. Oral contributions are placed in parallel sessions with generous discussion time, while posters are given slots where questions can be asked directly by colleagues and by the many students and early-career researchers who attend. Keynote addresses and invited speakers frame the meeting, and the deliberate spacing of the schedule leaves room for informal conversation in a welcoming atmosphere. Poster presenters gain visibility among the participants who are willing to engage closely with detailed methodological results.
Preparing a submission also means joining a long-standing tradition of the ISHC, which has built its reputation on outstanding contributions, on the spirit of scientific cooperation, and on the lively interactions that emerge when researchers from academia and industry gather in one place. A clear abstract, an honest account of methods and results, and a willingness to discuss the work openly all contribute to that atmosphere. The organisers warmly invite friends and colleagues to take part, and the deadlines announced on the site give authors the time needed to polish their contributions before the programme takes shape.
Poster presentations
Selected posters are displayed during the dedicated poster sessions, with presenters present at their boards to discuss results with attendees.
